Labor Day FAQs
Why are regular priced direct departures more expensive than a round trip ferry ticket?
Convenience. Our special Labor Day direct departures offer a unique convenience in taking guests from point A to point B in the most efficient manner possible.
Are tickets valid for any departure?
No. Each Labor Day direct departure ticket is dated and timed for a specific departure leaving from a specific location. Tickets will only be valid for that date, time, and location.
When should I plan to arrive for my departure?
One (1) hour prior. Guests should plan to arrive one (1) hour prior to their departure time to assure a hassle free travel experience.
Where do I park for my departure?
Guests traveling with Shepler’s for the Labor Day Bridge Walk should follow instructions as regular day guests. Please visit our parking page for details.
What is needed for boarding?
Guests must present the QR code provided in their email confirmation. Clear screenshots of QR codes in lieu of email confirmations are also valid. Confirmation numbers, names, or phone numbers are not valid for boarding.
What transportation will Shepler’s offer on the day of the walk?
Our Mackinaw City operation will be offering regular shuttle/tram transportation beginning at 5:00am between area hotels, campgrounds, our day parking lot, and dock. Our St. Ignace operation will be offering shuttle transportation between our dock and Little Bear Arena starting at 5:30am.
How do I get from Shepler’s to the bridge?
Guests in Mackinaw City will walk to/from our dock and/or our Day Parking Lot to the south end of the Mackinac Bridge (approx. 3 blocks). Guests in St. Ignace may either walk to Little Bear Arena (approx. 3 blocks) or enjoy complimentary Shepler’s shuttle service from our dock. The Mackinac Bridge Authority will be offering shuttle service from Little Bear Arena to the north end of the Mackinac Bridge. Please visit mackinacbrige.org for details on shuttle service to the bridge. There is no direct transportation from Shepler’s docks to the bridge.
What time is the bridge walk?
The walk begins at 7:00am and ends at 11:30am. The Mackinac Bridge will be closed to vehicle traffic from 6:30am-Noon. For details on this year’s bridge walk, please visit mackinacbridge.org.
Are Labor Day direct departure tickets refundable?
No. Tickets are entirely non-exchangeable and non-refundable. The only exception to this policy will be if the Mackinac Bridge Authority cancels the 2019 Labor Day Bridge Walk (see below).
What if the bridge walk is cancelled?
In the highly improbable and unlikely event that the Mackinac Bridge walk is cancelled, the following process will be followed.
- If walk is cancelled prior to 5:30am on Labor Day: All guests will receive a 100% refund. Should this happen, all guests should visit our website after 12:00pm on Labor Day for details on receiving their full refund.
- If walk is cancelled after 5:30am on Labor Day: Guests who have already departed should immediately proceed to the nearest Shepler’s dock for direct and complimentary ferry service back to their original departure location and will NOT receive a refund. Guests who have not yet departed will receive a complete refund and should visit our website after 12:00pm on Labor Day for details on receiving their full refund.
- Refunds will not be processed at either ticket office on the day of the event.
