Every year we get to the last day of the season and think, “where did the time go?” It’s no different this year as we end our 73rd season, and we want to say thank you for making 2018 a huge success for us. We always find this time of year bittersweet.  It is a great time for our cast members to get some much needed rest, but it means that we have to say goodbye to all of our guests and friends that we see on the dock every day.  As we prepare for the five month hiatus from ferrying passengers to and from Mackinac Island, we want you to know that we have some great improvements in store for you in 2019.

Improvements

On November 1st, we will be continuing the Mackinac Island dock remodel project.  We will be sharing updates with you throughout the off-season on Facebook.  So, if you haven’t already liked our page, now is the time to do it to keep up-to-date on this exciting project.

By summer of 2019, all of our overnight parking lots will be paved, our day lot on Nicolet will be completed with shuttle stops and the new gateway, and there will be more parking improvements in St. Ignace.  We can’t wait to show you what we have in store for you next year.

In the mean-time, watch for a special announcement about 2019 tickets and gift cards within the next couple of weeks.

New Office Hours

Now that the navigation season has ended, our office hours have changed to 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday.  For our freight customers, we are still carrying supplies to the Island.  If you have freight that needs to be delivered to the Island, please call 906-643-9440 to make arrangements.

Have a great winter, and we will see you in April for the start of our 74th season!

Thank you all for your excellent service this past season. The Shepler family of staff made the transition of parking seamless with on time shuttle service from the off site secured lot to the fast getaway onsite dock parking. Cannot wait to see the progress development of the island dock. Cheers from us to you.

I was up there in June, and I have some mobility issues. I just wanted to let you all know, again, how much I appreciated the lift van that picked me up at my hotel, and the extra care you took to make sure I boarded the boat safely with my walker. I’m hoping to repeat the experience again next summer.

Many thanks for stepping up to shuttle the bridge walkers to the drop off points! It took care of the logistic for bridge walkers starting from the opposite end and taking care of the transportation problem back to the other side one started from! KUDOS!

Like your lighthouse cruises. Very informational. The only thing is we are in Mackinaw on vacation in mid September and your cruises for the lighthouses are over. I wish they were extended til.the end of September so we take the ones that we haven’t been on or repeat some of them. Great cruises and have recommended your cruises to many people as we have been coming to Mackinaw for vacations over 25 years. Great free and friendly and helpful employees that work for your ferry company.

Thank you! We love hearing great things about our cast members. Our lighthouse cruise schedule is set based on the time of year. The later into September, the more unpredictable the weather and we want to make our cruises both safe and comfortable for our guests. Our cruise schedule will be available in January. Watch for the announcement in Ferry Tales. We hope that you can find one that works with your vacation next year!

We’ve always enjoyed sailing with Shepler’s, friendly staff, clean boats. Couldn’t make it up this year due to illness but hoping to go in 2019. Can’t wait to see all the progress.

Thank you so much for the complimentary tickets you sent me for next year – from the wild ride out to the upper islands. It was a really thrilling experience. I’m actually glad the captain decided to return to port (especially when talk turned to the winds of November and the Edmund Fitzgerald)! But I do appreciate the tickets. We will be returning to Mackinac Island next year! Great service.
