Absolutely! You will have to purchase a bike ticket for $11.00 per bike. Tandem bikes will be counted as two bikes and will need two tickets. Child bike trailers will also need a separate ticket.
Strollers are taken free of charge. All strollers will need to be stored on the aft deck for the trip. Children must ride on a seat or in an adult’s lap.
For safety and to keep our vessels clean, we ask that you refrain from eating, drinking or smoking on the boat.
Our schedule is color-coded for your convenience. All of the black departures operate every day. The blue departures are our Mighty Mac Departures that also operate every day. All other colors are additional departures that operate on the days designated at the bottom of that particular section of the schedule.
Our Mighty Mac Departures will take you under the Mackinac Bridge on your way to the Island for no extra charge. These departures add approximately 10 minutes to the ferry travel time.
Absolutely! All of our boats meet the ADA requirements. If you need help getting on and off the boat, our cast members will cheerfully assist you.
Wheelchairs are available for rent at some bike rental shops. Electric wheelchairs are available at Mackinac Island Bike Shop, contact 906-847-6337.
Motorized vehicles are not permitted on Mackinac Island. The main form of transportation is by horse, bike or foot.

If you are traveling out of Mackinaw City, go directly to our Day Lot across from I-75N Exit 338. The address is 311 S. Nicolet Street. We have trams on a constant loop to bring you to the dock. If you are traveling out of our St. Ignace facility, please go directly to the dock and our cast members will direct you where to park for the day. All of the Shepler’s Ferry tickets that we sell online are round trip tickets and they are good for any date and departure in the current season that runs from April 21 to October 31.
When you purchase tickets, you will receive a single barcode for your entire order. When we validate your tickets in the boarding line, be sure to tell us that not all of your party is with you. We will only validate the tickets you are using at that moment. Please make sure that anyone on your order that is not arriving with you has a copy of that barcode.
This promotion is sold as a line item on our ticket list. Just look for ‘2 adults and 1 child for $54.00’ and ‘3 adults for $67.00’ packages. You can purchase as many of these packages as you need. For example, a group of three would only need to purchase one ‘3 adults for $67.00’ package.
Mackinac Island Carriage Tours opens for public tours early May and closes mid-October (weather dependent). Operational times vary and dates are subject to change without notice. Please be sure to check with Mackinac Island Carriage Tours for opening and closing times for the day you will be taking the tour. Promo codes do not apply to packages. Everyone on your order must be present at the same time for the tour.
If you have problems printing your tickets, please call our online help desk at 877-252-0665 to make sure the transaction went through. We can send you another email or print your tickets here and have them waiting for you. If you arrive to the dock without a barcode, please go to the ticket office to have one printed.
If you have problems purchasing tickets online, please call our online help desk at 877-252-0665 and we will assist you.
All of the ferry tickets and packages that you purchase online at Shepler’s Ferry are non-refundable, but they are good for the whole season (April 21 – October 31). Our Lighthouse and Night Sky Cruise tickets have different refund policies based on the type of cruise. Please see those specific cruise pages for the refund policies.
If you are traveling to the Island for the day, you will park in our day lot (see parking information here) and go straight to the boarding line where we will scan your order barcode from a print-out or off your phone. If you are staying overnight on the Island, go to our unloading area where we will tag your bags for your Island hotel and give you parking instructions. Once you have parked your car, go to the boarding the line where we will scan your barcode.
Traveling with Pets
You can bring your pets with you on Shepler’s Ferry free of charge. Please keep them on a leash or in a cage for the duration of the ride to and from Mackinac Island. Mackinac Island is very pet friendly, but be sure to keep your dogs and cats on a leash and attend to them at all times.
It is important to make sure that your pets are comfortable with horses, because we don’t want the pets to spook our main form of transportation!
Pets are welcome on Mackinac Island Carriage Tours. If your dog can be carried on your lap, he or she can enjoy the tour for free. If you have a larger dog that will take up the space of one seat, you will have to pay for a child’s ticket (which is fitting since dogs are our babies, too!). Pets are also welcome with your admission to Fort Mackinac.
If you plan to enjoy one of the fine eateries on Mackinac Island, your pet will have to wait outside.
If you are staying in Mackinaw City, you can leave your pet for the day at Trails End Kennel. Call 231-436-7334 to make a reservation.
