The Mackinac Bridge will be closed to vehicles from 6:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Labor Day (Monday, September 4th).  This is the first time that the Bridge has been closed for the Labor Day walk, so authorities are not sure what to expect for traffic back-ups. If you are coming to Mackinaw City that day from the south, exit 337 will be the only Mackinaw City exit that is open.  Please plan accordingly for major delays.  If you are walking the Bridge, it will be best to be in Mackinaw City before the Bridge closes at 6:30 a.m.

If you are staying in St. Ignace and plan to cross the Bridge once it opens at noon, please be prepared for a delay of several hours as the traffic that will have built up since the 6:30 a.m. closure will all have to get through the toll booths and that will take quite a while.

For information on how to take the boat to walk the bridge – read our post here.

This is all of the information that we have at this time, but will post more as it becomes available.
