Welcome Aboard for the Mackinac Policy Conference!

Tickets

NEW this year, your Conference voucher received in your confirmation packet is your ferry ticket – no exchange necessary for an actual Shepler’s boarding pass.  Be sure to keep the return portion of your voucher for your trip off the Island.  If you do not have the return portion, you will need to purchase a one-way ticket on the Island dock.  A credit card receipt cannot be used as a valid ticket to board.

Overnight Parking

You will have two options to choose from in Mackinaw City.  Shepler’s offers valet service for $40/night or free off-site self parking.  For either option, please come to the ferry dock first so our dock staff can assist you with your luggage in our unloading area.  If you’re traveling from St. Ignace, we have on-site self parking for $5/night.  All overnight parking arrangements will be made at time of arrival at our ticket office.

Carry-on Bags

Due to safety issues, rolling suitcases and large bags will not be accepted as carry-on for the ferry.  If you wish to claim your luggage at the Island Dock, instead of having it delivered to your hotel, please let us know so we can “pink tag” your bags and you can retrieve your items on the dock after departing the vessel.

When returning, we ask that you carry-on your Conference bags or pack them in your suitcase.  Since these bags are identical, they are easily mixed up and bags can be taken by mistake.  We recommend not to put any personal/important items in these bags as we assume no responsibility for these.

Checked Luggage

Upon your return, it will be your responsibility to ensure you have collected the correct bags that belong to you.   Please confirm your claim checks match your luggage as you exit the luggage tent area.  If you chose the free self-park option, you will take your luggage with you and board a shuttle to return to your vehicle in the off-site parking lot.

In addition to our regular schedule, we are running these departures.

I would like your explanation of a rolling suitcase or a large bag. I have a carry-on that has 4 wheels and can be walked by my side or pulled behind and is accepted when flying. And are you talking about a bag like a grocery bag or a large zippered bag that is like a huge purse?

The post that you are commenting on is for the Detroit Regional Chamber Conference that happens in May each year. Just want to make sure that you realized that and that the procedures listed here are not what happens on a daily basis. We do not allow any rolling suitcases in the cabin for safety reasons. They need to be left on the aft deck of the boat when boarding, if we are not tagging them for your hotel. You can pick those up as you exit the boat. Other small carry-on bags can be put under the seat for trip over. Have a great trip!
